Preview: Drug Dog's False Alert Triggers Barry's Testimony
This is an example of a K-9's false alert. Notice the handler blocking the K-9's movements and tapping the door causing the K-9 to alert.
It is important to note the dog already sniffed the door area and walked away indicating their was no drug odor detected. The K-9 only alerted after being presented the door a second time and being influenced by the handler. The handler is also seen using the dog's toy as play prior to the search. If this toy is contaminated with drug odors as most K-9 toys are, the handler touching the car door contaminated the door with drugs triggering the alert.
